Well Gab seems to have had her fill of cheesecake today; eating about 4 pieces that her friend gave her with lunch and then another piece after dinner at the Telegraph House. I guess that’s the good thing about doing 50% local, you can have your veggies but eat your cake too!
Gab isn’t the only person in our 50% local group that is struggling; I’ve been hearing from a lot of people that their willpower is weakening as the month goes on. I think that next year I’m going to put more effort into developing this idea into a program so that people can get more support from being in the group. I would love to have ideas about how this could work from those in the group. Email me with ideas cblocaldiet.ca.
For breakfast today we had ham from Rockloaf farm, Eyking eggs and potatoes from North River Organics.
For lunch I fried up some peppers from Blue Marsh Farm, eggplant and zucchini from Cynthia Drinnan, and green onions from North River Organics. I used chicken fat to keep it from sticking. I also heated up some of the beans from last nights dinner.
We went to Telegraph House for dinner tonight. Chef George made a mixed salad, trout, potatoes and broccoli, green beans and carrots for Douglas and I, while Gab had risotto with local chicken and salad. The food was great and I just love going there, it’s like going home.
Now that I am hooked on maple sugar candy I made more for myself, I still need a little practice knowing when it is at the right time to take off the heat, but it is coming! Who needs chocolate?
